Installing Citrix Secure Gateway and Web Interface (XenApp 6) - part2

Configuring Web Interface
Once the installation completes, we are presented with this screen that allows us to configure the components we’ve installed on this server.

In the Role Manager under Web Interface click Configure.

Now the Web Interface Management MMC will start.  In the right Actions pane, choose Create Site.

This web site will provide access to our applications, so select XenApp Web for the type and click Next.

I’ll keep the default path to the XenApp folder.  Make a note of this path, clients will need to enter this in the browser to access Citrix applications.  Click Next.

For now I’ll keep the default for authentication, click Next.

Confirm the settings are correct and click Next.

The XenApp site is now created.  Click Next to begin configuring it.

Enter a name for the Citrix XenApp farm.  This does not need to be the same as the actual name of your farm, but it’s a good idea to keep them the same.  Click Add and enter the ip address or the fully qualified name of each of the servers in your XenApp farm.  Also be sure and change the port number of the Citrix XML Service if you’ve changed it from the default as I have.  It is recommended to enter multiple servers here for redundancy.  This way the Web Interface will be able to authenticate users and return their list of published applications if one of the servers or its XML Service is down.  Right now I have only one XenApp server installed in my farm.  Click Next.

For now I’ll use keep the defaults for user authentication.  Click Next.

Click Next unless you want to change the appearance of the Web Interface logon screen.  Click Next.

Right now I’m only accessing applications on my XenApp servers so I’ll keep Online selected and click Next.

Confirm the settings you’ve specified and click Finish.
Test Connection to Web Interface
Now let’s make sure that the Web Interface works correctly and allows clients to receive and access their applications.  First download the Citrix XenApp Online Plugin located here.  Open up the Zip archive.  There are two plugin files included, the full plugin and the web plugin.  We’ll be installing the web plugin.  Over on the client computer install the CitrixOnlinePluginWeb.exe file.  The installation should proceed without any prompts for information.  Once this is complete open up Internet Explorer.  In the address bar enter:
http://YourWebInterfaceServer/citrix/xenapp
You should be presented with the following page:

For now you should use http because https is not yet configured.  I took these screen captures later on so in the picture it says https.  Enter your user, password, and the Active Directory domain in which the user account resides.  Enter the name of your XenApp server for the domain if you want to use a local user account on the XenApp server.

We’re presented with the list of our published application set, click one of the application icons.  The program should launch without any further actions.  Now close the application and click Log Off on the Web Interface page.
Install Certificate for HTTPS
This post has details on installing a certificate from our own enterprise certificate authority on a non-domain IIS server.  When you’ve complete these steps, you can proceed with configuring Secure Gateway.
